Tom Van Bauwel (°1965) After completing his theatre studies in Antwerp, graduating in 1989, he began his career as an actor. He performed with various theatre companies both in Belgium and abroad. He did not limit himself to just acting, as he quickly demonstrated his talent as a director. He both acted and directed for theatre houses such as Zuidpool, Koninklijke Vlaamse Schouwburg, Nederlands Toneel Gent, Noord Nederlands Toneel , Het Toneelhuis, RO Theatre and BAFF. He also served as artistic director of the latter company for a number of years.
He made his debut as a film actor with a leading part in Boys. He played an important role in Oeroeg. Next he played a remarkable leading role in Ad Fundum a film by Erik Van Looy. He followed this up with roles in feature films such as Shades with Mickey Rourke. After the success TVseries of Team Spirit he played in the film Team Spirit II and performed in Die Unerzogenen and Man zkt Vrouw. Tom also played high-profile leading parts in prestigious television series such as Ons Geluk and Windkracht 10. In 2007 he took viewers by surprise with his role in the tele-novella Sara. He has made numerous guest appearances in various television series both in Holland and in Belgium. Recently he has also made striking contributions to Zone Stad and Code-37. In 2011, Tom played a leading role in the television series Rang 1. He played for years Danny Bourlon in Vermist and we saw him in a supporting role in Amigo's. In the Fall of 2017 he will portray his character Guido Spechtmans for the second time in Spitsbroers 2.
